PAOMI is an abbreviation for „Part of Mine“
When a friend of mine made the painful experience of losing an organ, the idea of creating a pillow model replicating that lost organ came into my mind. Initially, it was intended to be a little personal present which could help her understand the loss by visualizing the organ. My friend thought of it as a supporting benefit in that difficult stage of her life. The concept of creating material in order to be able to help more people started growing in my head.
Upon a meeting with “pro familia” Würzburg, a counseling center in Bavaria, Germany, the idea for making sex-education material as pillows of organs began taking on shape, so to speak. Ms. Schlett-Mewis who is in charge of this center learned about the organ pillow and reached out to us, to see if it was possible to create female reproductive organs as part of a program for sex education of teenagers
Our designer, Ms. Elisabeth Helmreich, Ms. Schlett-Mewis and myself developed the first Vulva/Vagina model, which was followed by a suitable penis model, designed in cooperation with the Health Department of Kitzingen, Germany.
Our range of products was expanded by creating the menstruation cycle model „Anke“ (in cooperation with Ms. Anke Erath) and the menstruation cycle strap „Helga“ (in cooperation with Dr. Helga Mock). Thanks to word-of-mouth advertising and recommendations the demand for new models continues to rise since 2007.
